Homemade Shortbread Gifts

Hey! To end the Christmas season and before we start a whole new year, I thought I would show you what I made for some of my family members for Christmas. I love baking and decided a more thoughtful gift would be good. So, I made Shortbread and used Christmas cutters to make them festive!

I used the Shortbread recipe for the BBC Website, if you’re interested in making some yourself ~

These are the only ingredients you need:

  • 125g/4oz butter

  • 55g/2oz caster sugar, plus extra to finish

  • 180g/6oz plain flour

After I had made them I decided to put them into jars and decorate them with ribbons and bows. This made them look really nice and look like more of a present.

Here are my finished Homemade Shortbread Gifts:

My Favourite Things About Christmas

Hey! Christmas Day is less than two weeks away and I’m so excited! I absolutely love this time of year and the build up to Christmas. In this blog post, I’m going to talk about my favourite things about the festive season!

Christmas Trees – I love decorating the Christmas trees in my house. Unfortunately we don’t get a real tree but our artificial one always looks great. The colour theme on the tree is red, gold and wood, it looks so pretty and traditional. I just love putting it up with my mum at the beginning of December.

Decorations – As well as the tree, I love all the Christmas decorations. So having a wreath on the door, garlands on the mantelpiece and tinsel around my room makes the house feel festive!

Lights – I think all the lights at Christmas time look so pretty.  I have lights in my room around my bed, lights outside of our house and lights in the lounge! I also love all the street lights that are put up everywhere!

Time with Friends and Family – For me, Christmas is a time when I catch up with family and friends which I sometimes only see at this time of year. It’s nice to spend that quality time with them.

Time off School – I cannot wait to have two weeks off school and I’m looking forward to being away from textbooks and computer screens!

Ice Skating – I love ice skating and I always go with my best friend, younger cousins and my mum.  It makes such a nice day out and everyone has fun!

Hot Chocolate – Snuggling up with a blanket, watching a Christmas film with a hot chocolate is the best. Especially when it’s with squirty cream and marshmallows!

Presents – We all secretly love receiving presents at Christmas, even though thats not just what Christmas is about. However, I also love buying and giving to other people as well. By being creative with wrapping paper and ribbon it can really make the gift look extra special.

Christmas Songs & Films – It would not be the same if we didn’t have movies or songs that get us in the festive spirit. I love sitting of the sofa, with a blanket, hot chocolate and watching my favourite Christmas films. Then of course singing along embarrassingly to the oldest and best Christmas songs!

Christmas Markets – I love all the stalls at Christmas markets, they sell Christmas presents, decorations, treats and so much more. It is always packed with people, decorated lovely and just makes the countdown to Christmas more exciting!

Food – My Grandma’s Christmas dinner is the best and I always look forward to this on Christmas day. Also all the nibbles and naughty treats that all the supermarkets bring out! It’s all so yummy!

Shopping – Christmas shopping can be really stressful, but when I go with my best friend it is always a really nice festive day. Plus I love picking out presents to buy people.
