Things I Am Grateful For This Week

Hey! I’m currently on holiday in Hampshire and I have been here a week now. What are you guys up to? I thought I would share with you what I am grateful for this week.

  • My mum & her partner’s caravan:

This is our first summer with a static caravan and I’m very grateful that we can spend two weeks on holiday here. It has allowed us to have some family time and to go on day trips around the Hampshire area. This week I’ve visited Lymington and Christchurch!

  • My Grandma’s homemade Victoria sponge:

The lashings of jam and buttercream in my Grandma’s soft and delicious sponge is something I just LOVE. The sugar on top makes it extra yummy!

  • My Followers!:

This week I have had an increase in people viewing, liking and commenting on my blog and I’ve been interacting with lots of you on Twitter. I’m so grateful for my followers, whether you’ve been here from the start or from a minute ago, thank you, you are amazing.

  • My Dad & his partner coming to see me:

They both travelled down to the caravan site to have a day out with me. We went for a meal in a local pub. Then we went to Christchurch and looked around the shops and garden centre. We took silly selfies and had a Fitbit steps competition! It was lovely of them to come and spend some time with me.

  • Male volunteer in Mind charity shop:

As I bought some books, the man serving me asked how I was and he was so kind to me. We had a conversation about how weird the British weather is and he made me laugh. It’s the simple things that make a difference to your day.

What are you grateful for this week?

A Walk In The Countryside

Hey! The other day I went for a lovely walk in Wiltshire, England. I went with my Dad and his friend. It was a really nice day and perfect to take pictures on my camera so I thought I would share some of the photos with you!

I had to wear wellies because it was so muddy and we walked up a really big hill that had a monument at the top. There were lots of trees and the sun was shining through them and I love taking pictures like these 🙂

I really enjoyed this walk because it had some great views, the weather was sunny and it felt nice to just be out in the fresh air. The countryside and walking is a great way to forget about worries and stuff for a while, and taking photographs is one of my favourite things to do! It was such a nice day 🙂

Baking A Lemon Drizzle Loaf

Hey! A couple of days ago I baked a Lemon Drizzle loaf using Tanya Burr’s recipe. It turned out brilliantly and tastes amazing! Here’s the ingredients, method and some pictures of my cake! 🙂

For the cake ~

  • 3 eggs
  • 170g self-raising flour
  • 170g caster sugar
  • 170g butter
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Zest of 2 lemons

For the icing ~

  • 150g icing sugar
  • Juice of 2 lemons

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Mix the eggs, flour, sugar, butter, baking powder and zest of two lemons in a mixing bowl.
  3. Line your loaf/baking tin with butter or baking paper.
  4. Pour the mixture in.
  5. Bake for 35-45 minutes.
  6. Slide a knife into the centre and if it comes out clean then it is ready.
  7. For the icing, mix together the icing sugar and juice of two lemons and stir.
  8. Poke holes with a knife or skewer into the cake and pour the drizzle over to soak in!

Then enjoy! This was the first time I baked this and it turned out so lovely. Thank you for the recipe Tanya Burr! ❤

My First Time to Brighton

Hey! At the end of July I visited Brighton for the first time! I really wanted to go so my Dad took me, kind of as a birthday treat too. At 07:30am we left my house which was quite early! We stopped for a McDonald’s breakfast on the way and then arrived in Brighton at 11am.

We parked up and went to a cute little café for a drink and cake. We then went to Brighton Pier and went on the arcade machines. I went on the Horror Hotel ride and also  won over 500 tokens and exchanged them for prizes!

Next, we went to The Lanes and they are so cute! There are lots of lovely little shops and café’s. We went in lots of shops in the town and Churchill Square shopping centre too! The main things I bought were; a coat in Oliver Bonas, a baking tin, a cute ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ book, a stick of rock and Marcus Butler’s book. I also stopped in the Bluebird Tea Company and got a Strawberry Lemonade Iced Tea, which was amazing!

In the evening, we went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen for dinner and then sat on the beach and ate an ice cream. Lastly we walked along the promenade and I went to see the beach huts, which are so stunning! After that, it was time to go and we travelled home. I had a great day and Brighton is so lovely! I hope to visit again sometime.

Here are a few of the pictures I took ~

Q&A Part 1 – Your Questions Answered!

Hey! I asked a lot of you on Twitter to ask me some questions for this Q&A and so many of you responded! Thank you so much! I am splitting it into two posts! I have included your twitter names, then you can find what your question was. Some questions were the same as others so I have just grouped them into one question.

Here’s my answers 🙂

1. What fandoms are you into? – @zalfiepumpkin

I would say mainly YouTubers, particularly Zoë Sugg (Zoella) and Alfie Deyes (PointlessBlog) 🙂 Also, I’m a massive Taylor Swift fan and therefore in the Swifties fandom!

2. What’s your favourite emoji? – @zoedey3s

Probably the laughing, crying face! Its my most recent all of the time!

3. What made you want to start a blog? – @zalfiedayes @suggsobsessed @JemmaNash1

I started a blog because I needed to do something just for me. I wanted to share the things I enjoy, the places I visit, my hobbies and interests and a little dusting of life advice too. I wanted to do something that was creative, fun and to keep my mind off some of my worries. I also wanted to create a help and support page that will hopefully help others.

4. Who was the last person you text and how do you know them? – @SunsetSugglet

The last person I text was one of my friends. I know her from school and we’ve been friends a couple of years now. We have both just finished our GCSE’s and start in Year 12 at sixth form in September. We were talking about our plans for prom and summer!

5. If you could give one bit of good advice to the whole world, what would it be? – @mistyzoella

I love this question! Of course this is only my opinion but I think that it would be… everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Therefore my good advice for the world would be, always be kind and friendly, give good first impressions of yourself, be considerate and open minded, to anyone and everyone and most importantly be YOU. Even if someone has told you something negative about a person, treat them how they are with you. You may not know that persons name and that means you definitely don’t know their story or background. I just think if the world was less judgemental and more accepting, it would be a happier place.

6. What’s your favourite type of blog post (to read or to write)? – @Ohhsuggs

To read would be life-related and review posts, just because they’re interesting and you learn things about other people. To write myself would be places I visit or advice posts for others. I enjoy writing more detailed posts.

7. Do you wear makeup? If so what’s your staple item? What is your favourite make up brand? – @JemmaNash1 @suggxbutler

I do wear makeup but not a drastic amount and it’s made to look more natural. So my staple item would either be a blue shaded eye shadow to bring out my eyes, or a pinky lipstick which I would carry around all day to keep my lips moisturised and bright. The makeup brands I use are Rimmel, Revlon, No7, Avon and Jane Iredale. My favourite would be Jane Iredale because it’s such high quality, but as it’s quite expensive I don’t use it very often. Therefore Rimmel would be my next favourite as I use it daily and it creates my natural makeup look.

8. Would you rather have no nose or no ears? – @fabulousdeyes

I think I would rather have no nose, because at least then with my ears, I could listen to someone telling me what something smelt like!

9. (These three questions are quite similar so I’m answering them together)

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? – @updatezoe

I would probably go to America to see New York City. It’s somewhere I’ll always want to visit and hopefully I will at some point in my life! I would love to sightsee and visit Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the 9/11 memorial, Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge. To see the city lights, Broadway, the liveliness of the city, the history, the shopping centres and so much more! I would just love to travel there one day!

If you could travel the world who would you take with you and why? – @zoellasrose

If I could travel the world, I would probably take my boy best friend with me. This is because we get on and know each other so well. We never argue or fall out so this makes every amount of time spent with each other, enjoyable. This would be great for travelling the world because we would care for each other and have the best time.

If you could live anywhere you wanted in the world, where would you live? -@cutiepotatozoe

As boring as it sounds, I would probably not want to live anywhere else but England, not permanently anyway. I wouldn’t want to live away from my family and friends. However maybe I would travel and stay in America, Spain or Australia for a short period of time.

10. If you were trapped on a deserted island and could only bring one person, who would you bring and why? – @cutiepotatozoe @LiveLifeOfKatie

I would probably bring my mum because she would reassure me and make me see sense of the situation. Also we could make a joke, laugh about it and probably make it fun! Plus Mum’s always know what to do and how to help, right?!

11. What are three things that you are happy with in your life and why? – @suggxoakley

Firstly, I am so happy that my GCSE’s are over and that I now have the longest summer! Also I’m happy that England has actually had some sun lately because I love having BBQ’s with family. Lastly, the style and theme of my blog/website. I am quite new to this but so far I’m loving it! I love writing blog posts, interacting with people on Twitter and structuring my website.

12. Why do you like or dislike school? – @suggxoakley

I have just finished my GCSE’s so I’m on holiday right now, however I would say there are many reasons why I like and dislike school. I dislike it because of the amount of pressure there is to succeed plus the extra I put on myself, how my anxiety affects me there, stresses of hard work, friendship issues and bullying. But, I like it because our year group is like a team, most teachers and staff are so helpful and lovely and working hard makes you achieve things.

13. What are your top three fears? – @suggxoakley

  • Sick (vomit) – I have emetophobia so people being or feeling sick around me or myself feeling ill etc, just terrifies me!
  • Dying/Death –  I fear dying myself and losing other people to death.
  • Not being good enough – Either for a relationship, job, opportunity or that kind of thing. I fear letting myself and others down.

14.  Who’s your favourite Ship? – @caitlinAgarrett

In the general celebrity world, I would say my favourite couple right now are Jacqueline Jossa and Dan Osborne. This is probably because they are so lovely together, have recently had a baby girl and got engaged. Also I love Eastenders and TOWIE! In YouTube, it would definitely be Zoë Sugg (Zoella) and Alfie Deyes (PointlessBlog). They are just amazing and so cute together, which leads into my next question…

What’s your favourite thing about Zalfie? – @meganevans12344

I love how they are so supportive of each other, with both their achievements and generally. Their supportive with any problems either of them have and whenever they succeed in something they are so pleased for one another. Their care and love for each other is obvious but somewhat private and I really respect that.  They’re like best friends too and I just think they make such a lovely couple!

15. What’s the first thing you look for in a partner? – @oncezoella

I would say a guy’s smile, because I think looking happy and having nice teeth is attractive.

16. Where do you see yourself in ten years time? What’s your personal goal in life? – @plentysuggs

In ten years time I will be nearly 26…woah, thats scary! I would like to have a good job, my family still healthy, a house or flat and settled with a loving partner. I would like to be living life to the full, taking every positive opportunity and have conquered fears! My personal goal in life is to have a family and be happy.

Thank you so much for reading and thank you to those who asked me questions! Part two will be going up shortly too!

Summer Essentials Collab!

IT’S ALMOST SUMMER! This means that you need to make sure you have got the basic essentials to enjoy this time of year. My blogger friend, Anna and I, thought we could team up together to do a collab and tell you are favourite summer must haves!

My Summer Essentials:

Sunglasses –

Sunglasses are the first thing you reach for when the sun shines. It’s a very obvious summer essential. There are so many different styles like Ray Bans Wayfarer and Aviators, but choose what you feel good in. They are a great fashion statement and also have the practical reason of protecting your eyes from UV rays. They can make excellent headbands if you forget a hair tie or clip and need your hair out of your eyes. Sunglasses mean you can also smile in the sun when taking pictures, this way you aren’t squinting. Plus even if you do close your eyes, no one will know. Sunglasses are a definite summer must have!

Flip Flops –

Flip-flops are perfect for walking on a sandy beach. But many of us choose this footwear on a regular basis to wear all summer long. They are great to keep your feet cool in the heat. You can also show off your latest nail varnish colour. I would recommend Havaianas, as although they are more expensive they are sturdy and very comfortable. But all are practical and you MUST have a pair of flip flops this summer!

Anna’s Summer Essentials:

A Nice Bikini Or Swimming Costume –

A good bikini or swimming costume is very important when your on your summer holiday! I would love a Triangl bikini (top right) as they are a really good swimwear brand and their bikinis are gorgeous but they are so expensive! The other ones are all Primark swimwear so they are very affordable and but still really pretty! If you are going abroad and there’s a chance you might be near sea or a swimming, a bikini is a must! They are also great for tanning in. 😉 Always choose a bikini or swimming costume that makes you feel confident and good about yourself!

A Good Book –

Everyone needs that summer read for when you relaxing by the pool, it is great to just lie in the sun and really get into a good book! I do also love magazines but to me there’s nothing like getting lost in a book. My favourite summer reads would be Summer With My Sister by Lucy Diamond and any of the Jenny Colgan books! They aren’t too dramatic and won’t make you cry, they are just funny, easy reads. They also have a bit of romance in them, which is perfect for the summer season!
